If you have just purchased a Netgear router to have seamless internet access in your home, then you need to set it up at home first. The Nighthawk app can also be put to use to do the same task. In this article, we are going to cover detailed information about using the manual method that involves a computer or laptop to set up the router. Keep on reading to know more.
Netgear Router Setup Using Routerlogin.net
Step 1: Physical Setup
Before we begin with the setup process, if you have an in-place router then unplug it first and replace it with the new router. You need to find a dry and neat place for the Netgear router. The place that you choose should have an active available wall socket to plug in the router. Apart from this, the place should be near the modem.
Step 2: Power Up the Router
It is now time to connect the Netgear router to the wall socket. But first, unbox your router gently. Keep all the accessories and the user manual with care. Verify if you have received all the items in the Netgear router box along with the router as mentioned on the box. Once done, connect the adapter to the router and plug the other end into the active wall socket. Turn on the power button. Once the LEDs on it are solid, know that it is ready to be set up.
Step 3: Connect it to Modem
Connect the Netgear router to the modem now. Use the Ethernet cable to make the connection between the devices. The cable that you are using should be in a good condition. Do not employ a damaged or worn-out cable for this purpose. Know that after you are done setting up your router, you can make the wireless connection between the devices but for now, prefer a wired connection.
Step 4: Do the Login
In this step, turn your computer or laptop on and fire up an internet browser on it. The PC as well as the browser that you are using should be updated with the most recent version of the software. In the URL bar of the browser, input the login web address. Press the Enter key to access the login page. Once the Netgear router login page opens up, type the default username and password of the Netgear router in the given fields. Once done, click the Log In button.
Step 5: Complete the Setup Process
After clicking on the Log In button, you will be navigated to the Netgear Genie setup page. Do what you are being asked by the screen instructions to complete the www.routerlogin.net setup process. Once you are done following all the on-screen instructions, you will get through the Netgear router set up process.
The Final Note
Now that you have completed the Netgear router setup process, you can unplug the router from this location and place it somewhere else where you want to access the internet in the home. You can place the wireless connection or wired connection between the router and modem. In case it is a wireless connection, make sure that the router sits between the boundary line of the modem’s range for the router to work properly.
